In today’s world, financial literacy is more than just balancing a checkbook—it’s a vital life skill that helps young people build a secure future. And as a mom to two teenage boys, I was thrilled to work with NH Jump$tart Coalition to capture the FinLit300.

The FinLit300 is a competition designed to advance financial literacy in the State of New Hampshire through an educational tournament which will empower high school students to apply classroom-based financial education in a contest of knowledge and skills.

Far too many teens graduate without the essential knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions. This competition is about changing that by pushing students to think critically about topics including:

The Standards (Students Answer Questions in Each “Standards” Category)

  • Earning Income

  • Spending

  • Saving

  • Investing

  • Managing Credit

  • Managing Risk

As part of this exciting event, I created a short video that highlights the competition and importance of financial literacy. The goal? To engage fellow students and make personal finance more relatable and less intimidating. I’m proud of the message I shared through this project, and I hope it inspires other students to take control of their financial futures. Whether they're saving for your first car, planning for college, or just learning to avoid debt, financial literacy gives them the tools to succeed.
